Tribute: Elizabeth MacKay

Elizabeth, my dear friend stole my heart from the day I met her. She even shared the same March birthday as my dear brother Dennis who also passed away from brain cancer. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Elizabeth wrote her story and gave it to me to help bring awareness to brain tumors.

She wants her memory to live on and wants her story to help people understand to live life to the fullest. She wants everyone to help bring awareness and raise money to advance neuroscience research, in hope of finding a cure one day.

I could remember the first day of spring; we sat and had lunch, and talked for three hours. We talked about the beauty of life and life ever after; we talked about the beauty of birth. I could remember the moments of silence when she could no longer speak with her voice, only with her eyes.

I will always remember her courage and strength, and when I see all the beauty life has to offer. She will always live on in our hearts.

Elizabeth MacKay’s Story
My name is Elizabeth Mackay and I was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma grade 4 in May 1999. The doctors gave me 6-12 months to live. I was looking for a treatment for better quality of life.

With a supportive loving husband, family and most of all my reason for strength and living my two children, I continued to fight.

Elizabeth Mackay lost her battle.

You are not forgotten loved one, nor will ever be.

As long as life and memories fast, we will remember thee.
