Runs for Guardian Brain Foundation

by Kristin Ianiero, Bellmore Life, 06/03/2004

Giovanni, from Matteos Restaurant in Bellmore, ran the Long Island Half Marathon.  By participating in the 13 mile race, Giovanni, a member of the Guardian Brian Foundation, raised over five thousand dollars for the foundation’s mission and goals.

Each year, over 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Three and a half million are living with a disability as a result of a traumatic brain injury.

The Guardian Brain Foundation (GBF) was established by a group of volunteers who strive to maximize the quality of life for people who suffer from injuries and tumors of the brain.  They also offer compassion to those in need.  GBF, a non-profit foundation, helps advance neuroscience research, provide support services, and improve the quality of life for children and adults diagnosed with injuries and tumors of the brain.
