The Guardian Brain Foundation held its Winter Wonderland Ball last month at the Carltun in East Meadow, its 11th ball.Honorees were Mark Scheeler and Robert Castiano of MetroModes Salon/Spa. Golden guardians were Tina Dupuis of Salon T and Dear Little Dollies. It was an amazing evening filled with live entertainment and magic by Arjay Lewis. Our wonderful pipe cleaning lady, Windy Binder, entertained the children with creative pipe cleaner ideas, along with DJ Bill from High Note Music. All services for the evening were donated.

There were Chinese auction items, live auction, raffles 50/50 and a door prize. Long Island Video showed a special video of Ty Louis Campbell. Ty was a five year old boy The Guardian Brain Foundation provided support to who died recently from a brain tumor. He was a true inspiration to all always smiling and touching lives.

Ty’s mom Cindy gave a heartfelt speech full of emotion, thanking the foundation for support. It was an enchanted evening that touched on every emotional level.

A special letter was given to each quest from actress Valerie Harper, herself suffering from brain cancer. It read as follows:

Hello Everyone!

I send my warmest regards to all of you gathered here at this evening’s

event. Congratulations on your dedication to a wonderful purpose and eleven years of providing support services to patients and their families. It is an inspiration indeed that your foundation is run by volunteers.

Thank you for your beautiful commitment to others.

With best wishes and love,
Valerie Harper.

The Guardian Brain Foundation believes in the quality of life and sharing compassion. We provide support services to children and adults with injuries, and tumors of the brain.

The foundation was created eleven years ago in loving memory of Dennis Pitti, who succumbed to a cancerous brain tumor, and to his father Salvatore Pitti, who lost a battle to CJD, a brain wasting disease.

“I wanted to give back and help people” said Mary Pallotta founder and president of The Guardian Brain Foundation. Life is about choices and that is why we choose to make a difference. We are blessed to know so many people who pass our life briefly but inspire us so deeply.

We are a foundation that brings hope, happiness and support. We all volunteer our time. No one knows what tomorrow will bring. It’s all about helping one another and making a difference in this fragile world.

At the ball next year the highest bidder in our live auction will become a character in James Patterson’s book. Also, please view our facebook page for the winter wonderland photos.
